Serving Allah Through Humanity

Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre offers a wide range of religious, educational, and social services aimed at nurturing Islamic values, supporting vulnerable communities, and promoting peace and development. Our programmes are rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah and serve people of all ages and backgrounds.

Educational Services

Basic Courses Offered

Quranic Studies

At Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre, Quranic education is at the heart of our mission. We offer structured classes for all age groups focusing on accurate recitation with Tajweed (correct pronunciation), memorisation (Hifz), and deep reflection on the meanings of the verses. Our qualified teachers guide students through a spiritually enriching journey to develop a strong connection with the Book of Allah, fostering piety, discipline, and lifelong learning.

Tawheed (Islamic Monotheism)

We place great emphasis on teaching Tawheed, the cornerstone of Islamic belief. Students learn the oneness of Allah in His Lordship, Names and Attributes, and Worship, as taught by the righteous predecessors. Through well-structured lessons, we ensure that learners internalise pure Islamic creed and reject all forms of shirk (associating partners with Allah), aligning with our Centre’s commitment to preserving authentic Islamic teachings.

Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence)

Our Fiqh courses are designed to provide students with practical knowledge of Islamic rulings related to daily worship and transactions. Lessons are drawn from the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah, and cover essential topics such as purification, prayer, fasting, zakat, and Hajj. These sessions help students apply Islamic principles to real-life situations and embody the ethics of Islam in their conduct and decision-making.

Hadith Studies

Understanding the sayings, actions, and approvals of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is essential to Islamic learning. At our Centre, Hadith classes offer students the opportunity to study selected narrations from trusted collections, explore their meanings, and apply them in daily life. The programme strengthens students' knowledge of Sunnah and complements their understanding of the Qur'an.

Seerah (Prophetic Biography)

We offer engaging courses on the Seerah, the biography of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), highlighting his noble character, leadership, and trials. These lessons aim to inspire students to emulate the Prophet’s example in personal and communal life. Studying Seerah nurtures love for the Prophet and instils values such as patience, compassion, honesty, and resilience.

Arabic Language

Arabic is the key to accessing the Qur'an and classical Islamic texts. Our Centre offers Arabic courses focusing on grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills to empower students to read and understand Islamic literature in its original language. This programme strengthens students’ religious knowledge and builds their confidence in navigating both religious and academic texts.

English Language

Recognising the importance of global communication and knowledge, we provide English language instruction to complement our Islamic curriculum. Students gain essential literacy and communication skills, enabling them to engage with wider academic and professional opportunities while maintaining strong Islamic values. This integration reflects our commitment to producing well-rounded, God-conscious individuals.

Primary Education

At Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre, our morning classes are structured to provide children with a balanced foundation in both Islamic and secular education. Pupils are taught core subjects such as English, Mathematics, and Science alongside Islamic studies, enabling them to grow intellectually and spiritually. By integrating faith and academics, we nurture young minds to become knowledgeable, disciplined, and morally upright individuals who contribute positively to society. These classes are delivered in a safe, supportive, and Islamic environment that upholds the values of respect, honesty, and piety.

Qur’an Memorisation (Hifz Programme)

Our evening Qur’an memorisation workshops are dedicated to the Hifz (memorisation) of the Holy Qur’an, one of the most honoured pursuits in Islam. Led by experienced and certified instructors, the sessions are tailored to suit the individual pace of each student, ensuring correct recitation with Tajweed and strong retention techniques. This programme is open to both boys and girls and instils in them a deep connection to the Qur’an, discipline in memorisation, and a commitment to living by its guidance. It is one of the core activities of the Centre, reflecting our vision to produce generations rooted in the words of Allah.

Adult Education

Recognising the ongoing need for Islamic learning at every stage of life, Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre offers night classes for adults, particularly targeting parents and community elders. These sessions include the recitation and understanding of the Holy Qur’an, lessons in Tawheed, and practical guidance on how to perform daily prayers and fulfil religious obligations. Through these lessons, adults—many of whom may not have had the opportunity for formal Islamic education—are empowered to grow in their faith and serve as role models within their households and communities. This programme reinforces our commitment to inclusive and lifelong Islamic learning.

Charitable Services

Community Support & Welfare Initiatives

Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre is committed to serving the physical, spiritual, and social needs of the community through a range of charitable programmes. From feeding the hungry to sponsoring orphans and providing healthcare, our services aim to uplift the vulnerable and embody the compassionate teachings of Islam.

Ramadan Iftar Project

Every year during the blessed month of Ramadan, Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre implements a large-scale Iftar Project, distributing cooked meals to fasting Muslims in Tamale and surrounding villages. This initiative ensures that hundreds of individuals—especially those who are poor, travelling, or living alone—are able to break their fast with dignity. The meals are served in mosques, creating a strong sense of unity, brotherhood, and collective worship. The Centre relies on the generous contributions of donors to carry out this essential act of charity, following the Prophetic tradition of feeding the fasting.

Eid Sacrifices (Qurbani Project)

In observance of Eid al-Adha, Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre organises the annual slaughter of cows and sheep as part of the Qurbani Project. The meat is distributed to underprivileged families, orphans, and struggling Islamic preachers who otherwise cannot afford to celebrate this sacred occasion. This act revives the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and strengthens the spirit of sacrifice and compassion within the community. Over recent years, the Centre has successfully distributed meat from over 90 animals, bringing joy and relief to hundreds of households.

Helping the Poor

The Centre is deeply committed to supporting the most vulnerable in society through a variety of poverty-alleviation initiatives. These include regular food distributions, education fee support, basic medical care, and responding to urgent needs such as rent and debt payments. Whether through Zakat, Sadaqah, or general donations, we ensure that every contribution goes directly to uplifting struggling families and helping them live with dignity. This support is not only financial, but also spiritual, as we encourage self-reliance and trust in Allah’s mercy.

Clothing Distribution

To restore dignity and joy during the festive periods, particularly Eid celebrations, Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre organises annual clothing distributions for orphans and the needy. Each year, we distribute around 175 sets of clothing, including dresses and shoes, enabling recipients to partake in Eid with happiness and confidence. This initiative reflects the Islamic value of honouring the less fortunate and ensuring they are not forgotten in times of celebration.

Food Assistance

Beyond Ramadan, our food assistance programme operates year-round to support families facing hunger. We distribute Ramadan food baskets before the holy month begins and continue with general food aid in the months that follow. These baskets typically include rice, oil, sugar, and other essentials, helping families prepare Suhoor and Iftar meals with ease. With growing needs in the region, this programme plays a crucial role in fighting food insecurity.

Orphan Sponsorship

Caring for orphans is a priority for Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre. Through our Orphan Sponsorship Programme, we provide children who have lost one or both parents with access to Islamic and secular education, clothing, meals, and emotional support. We currently sponsor 15 orphans and are committed to expanding this number as resources allow. Inspired by the words of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who said, “I and the one who looks after an orphan will be like this in Paradise” (holding two fingers together), we consider this programme one of our most noble endeavours.

Healthcare Support

Health is a vital aspect of well-being, and Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre offers basic healthcare support to the poor and needy. This includes helping cover medical bills, purchasing essential medicines, and conducting hospital visitations to uplift and pray for the sick. We also raise awareness about preventive care and hygiene within the community. Inspired by the prophetic teachings on visiting the ill and supporting the weak, our Centre is committed to easing physical suffering and promoting a healthier community.

Da'wah & Community Services

Outreach & Development Programmes

Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre is dedicated to strengthening Islamic knowledge and community welfare through a range of impactful initiatives. From advocacy trips and mosque construction to youth rehabilitation and educational camps, our programmes aim to nurture faith, promote learning, and uplift communities across the region.

Advocacy Trips

Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre regularly organises advocacy convoys to neighbouring villages, focusing on spreading authentic Islamic teachings and correcting misconceptions about the faith. These trips are led by experienced preachers who deliver sermons, conduct lessons, and engage in discussions with local communities. Over the past three years, the Centre has carried out 27 advocacy trips, resulting in many individuals embracing Islam and gaining a clearer understanding of its message. These missions are rooted in the Qur’anic command to “Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good preaching,” and play a vital role in uniting and educating rural Muslim communities.

Mosque Construction

Recognising the central role of mosques in Muslim life, the Centre actively invests in the construction and restoration of mosques across the region. In the last three years alone, Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre has built three new mosques and restored two others, ensuring they are equipped with essential facilities such as wells, lighting, and toilets. These mosques not only serve as places of prayer but also function as centres for learning, community meetings, and da’wah. They are a reflection of our commitment to spiritual development and social cohesion through well-maintained Islamic infrastructure.

Well Digging

Access to clean water remains a major challenge in many parts of Northern Ghana. To address this, Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre has undertaken multiple well drilling projects in Tamale and surrounding villages. These wells provide safe drinking water to hundreds of families and reduce the burden on women and children who often travel long distances to fetch water. By combining charity with long-term community development, these projects reflect our Islamic duty to serve humanity and protect public health.

Islamic Competitions

To inspire and motivate students in their Islamic learning, the Centre regularly holds Qur’anic and cultural competitions. These include recitation and memorisation contests, Islamic quiz events, and Arabic language challenges. Such activities create a healthy sense of competition, reinforce classroom learning, and encourage students to strive for excellence in their studies. These events are also a platform for recognising the achievements of young learners and strengthening their connection to the Qur’an and Islamic identity.

Educational Camps

As part of its commitment to intensive Islamic learning, Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre organises educational camps and legal study sessions. These camps bring together students, scholars, and teachers for several days of structured learning, focusing on key topics such as Tawheed, Fiqh, Hadith, and ethical conduct. Held during school holidays or special occasions, these camps provide participants with a spiritually uplifting experience and a deeper grasp of Islamic principles in a focused environment.

Youth Rehabilitation

Salaf Al-Saleh Islamic Centre runs vital programmes to address the growing concern of drug misuse among youth. We offer education and counselling to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, and work to rehabilitate those affected, guiding them back to a path of health, faith, and productivity. By combining religious teachings with practical advice and emotional support, our youth rehabilitation efforts aim to protect the next generation and promote a morally upright society.
